The Principal Engineer (PE) is responsible for the technical delivery of dry utilities (Street Lighting, Power, Telecoms) of infrastructure projects and assisting overall management of the team within Mouchel Middle East UAE team.
The role is based in Abu Dhabi and will involve travel to ensure successful delivery of the role. The potential travel locations include, but are not limited to, UAE, KSA, UK and India.
The PE will provide technical leadership and financial management and is responsible for ensuring that project outcomes meet the required technical standards and project deliverables in accordance with budgetary, programme and delivery requirements.
A key requirement will be to contribute to engineering expertise and engender a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. In addition, the PE will build relationships with colleagues across Mouchel, with external organizations and with new and existing clients.
The PE is responsible as a as a leader for consistency, quality and technical excellence across infrastructure projects whilst ensuring innovation and efficiency by developing and sharing best practice; ensuring that excellent technical standards are employed in the design, documentation and supervision of project work.
The PE will also be required to act as the Design Manager for multi-disciplinary projects, liaising with Project Managers and other discipline leads to ensure successful project delivery and completion within agreed timescales and budgets.
•Ensure projects undertaken in line with Mouchel policy on all SHEQ matters.
•Responsible for the successful Technical and Financial delivery of design elements of projects and knowledge of stakeholders design standards and requirements.
•Responsible for delivery of high quality projects, demonstrating continuous improvement, to the measurable satisfaction of clients.
•Drive innovation and efficiency across the team.
•Demonstrate leadership, management, motivation and development of staff to improve their performance and achieve their potential, including clear succession planning.
•Support the Infrastructure Director and Technical Manager in business planning, financial control and commercial/risk management.
•Responsible for accurate resource planning and allocation to ensure adequate resources are available for the completion of projects including identification of recruitment requirements where appropriate.
•Assist in ongoing forecasting of planned and actual costs and utilisation.
•Provide professional and technical guidance and coaching to all staff, and encourage progression towards professional qualifications eg CEng, IEng etc.
•To be a chartered / incorporated member (or equivalent) of a relevant professional institution.
•A degree in a relevant discipline.
•Or demonstrable experience.
•Excellent knowledge, understanding and application of relevant international design standards and procedures for dry utilities.
•Proven track record in the delivery of complex engineering and infrastructure projects from a design perspective in accordance with budgetary and programme constraints.
•Demonstrable experience of providing leadership, guidance, training and mentoring of staff.
•Middle East experience and knowledge of Middle East stakeholder requirements is desirable.
•Excellent presentation, verbal and written communications skills.
•Ability to work on own initiative on technical and business matters.
•Effective resource planning, management and programming skills.
•Effective financial management skills.
•Work with, delegate and utilise the skills of others to maximise the delivery and efficiency of the team.
•Mentor, support and technically develop junior staff.

•Fluent written and spoken English.
